#5 FAQ: How many volleyball scholarships are available per team in the NCAA DI/DII/DIII and NAIA?
Colleges: 247 women's volleyball programs and 23 men's.
Scholarships: Women's 12, Men’s 4.5
Women's scholarships are referred to as "head count" which means scholarships are full-rides awarded to an individual athlete. Men's scholarships are referred to as “equivalency grants” which are divided throughout the individual team players.
NCAA Division II
Colleges: 310 women's volleyball programs and 12 men's.
Scholarships: *Women's 8 *Men’s 4.5
Scholarships are divided amongst the team players.
NCAA Division III
Colleges: 421 women's volleyball programs and 48 men's.
Scholarships: Scholarships are not offered in Division III athletics.
Players garner academic merit scholarships.
Colleges: 251 women's volleyball programs. 35 men's.
Scholarships: * Women’s 8
Partial scholarships are the norm.
